Barb Armstrong

As an emerging abstract expressionist, Barb Armstrong develops her artistic voice through the exploration of nature in freeform shapes, vibrant color relationships and layered techniques. Using acrylic paints, she applies hand-mixed colors to make distinctive marks. Her dynamic compositions are filled with emotions that balance elements of realism, with pure abstraction. Barb uses a wide range of unconventional methods—including palette knives, catalysts, forks, paper towels and bubble wrap—that create varied textures and markings. Her work has been exhibited at The Garner Art Center, Mamaroneck Artists Guild, Rockefeller Gallery, The Carriage Barn, Loft Artists Association, Edward Hopper House and Arts Westchester.
