Barb Armstrong
Artist's Statement
As an emerging abstract expressionist, I develop my artistic voice through
the exploration of freeform shapes, vibrant color relationships, and layered techniques.
By mixing colors directly on the palette and applying distinctive marks, I create dynamic compositions that balance elements of realism with pure abstraction. My practice is
continually evolving, driven by experimentation and the pursuit of new visual possibilities.
Barb is an abstract acrylic painter based in Rockland, New York. She employs a
range of unconventional tools—including palette knives, catalysts, forks,
paper towel rolls, and bubble wrap—to create varied textures and markings.
Her work has been exhibited at The Garner Art Center, Mamaroneck Artists Guild,
Rockefeller Gallery, The Carriage Barn, Loft Artists Association,
Edward Hopper House, and ArtsWestchester.
